Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur or KL is the heart and soul of Malaysia. In the native language it is termed as the “muddy estuary” because the urban region resides in between two flowing streams namely- Klang and Gombak Rivers. In the year 1896, KL was declared as the capital city of the Federated Malay States.

In the heart of this city visit the National Mosque, Museum, China Town, Little India and the many shopping complexes. Be awed by the architectural wonder of the Petronas Twin Towers and how you can be amongst the Rays and sharks and other marine life in Aquaria KLCC.

Still within the city you can find the various parks and gardens to spend the day in – The Butterfly Park, Hibiscus Garden, The KL Bird Park, Orchid Garden, the Botanical Garden and the Titiwangsa Lake Garden where sits the ‘Eye on Malaysia’ ferris wheel.

While moving around the city you can also savor the various types of food available – Authentic Malay, Indian and Chinese cuisine, fast foods, Eastern, Western, Mediterranean… you name it and be sure to find it just a stone’s throw away! Hawker fare is popular among the locals and is easily available almost anywhere throughout Malaysia. Try the most popular dishes such as Nasi Lemak, Satay and Roti Canai. Nasi Lemak is a rice preparation made with coconut milk. Satay is a kebab while Roti Canai is a popular breakfast fare. A large number of restaurants also serve Chinese, Indian, American, Italian, French, Nyonya, Japanese, Korean and Thai food. Catering for the needs of the large number of migrant workers in the country, Myanmarese, Pakistanis, Bangladeshi and also Indonesian restaurants are becoming popular. Malaysians generally are very adventurous when it comes to satisfying their palettes. A large variety of local fruits are also available at the wet markets, night markets, supermarkets and neighborhood green grocers. Sample locally grown papayas, mangosteens, watermelons, honey dew melon, rock melon, dragon fruit, rose apple, rambutans, durians and more.

Kuala Lumpur, a major tourist destination of the world, offers a large number of entertainment options to the tourists. Starting from shopping and sightseeing right down to outdoor sports and night life – see it, savor it, experience it and enjoy it all

Because of the diversity in race, religion and culture Malaysia has one of the highest numbers of public holidays enjoyed by its plural society. Always hosting events and cultural exhibitions, listed here are some of the more popular festivals celebrated on a larger scale - Deepavali Festival, Hari Raya Festival and other important days of the Muslim calendar, Merdeka Day (Independence Day), City Day for Kuala Lumpur, Chinese New Year, Christmas, Wesak and Thaipusam.
