Dr. Michael S. H. Law
General Info

Short Introduction
Dr. Michael Law graduated from the prestigious University of Dublin, Trinity College (founded in 1592, the oldest university in the Republic of Ireland), with Bachelor of Art and Medical Degrees (BA, MB. BCh, B.A.O) in 1993. In 1997, he qualified with the Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and became a full Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh (UK). In September 1999, he was gazetted as a Clinical Specialist in Ophthalmology by the Ministry of Health Malaysia.
In June 2000, Dr. Law received subspeciality training Cornea and External Diseases of the Eye at the renowned University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. During this time, he was trained extensively in the management of complicated cornea and anterior segment diseases, and performed over a hundred cornea transplantation surgeries, both independently and supervised. While undergoing training in laser refractive surgery at the famous Gimbel Eye Center in Toronto, he also collaborated on a revolutionary research paper in which cornea transplantation was performed under topical anaesthesia. This was subsequently published in the prestigious peer reviewed journal Cornea, in 2004.
Returning to Malaysia in 2001, Dr. Law joined a local eye hospital where he practiced as a Cornea and Anterior Segment disease specialist. Until his departure in late 2006, he performed, on average, over 40-50 cornea transplantations per year. He also pioneered the development of various innovative cornea surgeries at the hospital.
